چکیده

Immune trombocytopenia is an autoimmune disease characterised by abnormal platelet destruction. Corticosteroids and intravenous immune globulin are main first line treatment options. Splenectomy is a preferred second line treatment option for unresponsive patients at many centers. Secondary thrombocytosis is a possible complication awaiting this group of patients after splenectomy. Here, we present a case of myocardial infarction at a patient who had undergone splenectomy for ITP, which is a rare event seen with secondary thrombocytosis due to

Myocardial damage of the entire ventricular region in a patient with acute myocardial infarction

Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of 99mTc-PYP was extensive. A 78-year-old man presented with dyspnea, and a diagnosis of non-ST-segment elevation acute myocar...

CD4⁺Foxp3⁺ Treg and its ICOS⁺ Subsets in Patients with Myocardial Infarction

Background: Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial disorder with chronic inflammatory conditions in which immune cells play a significant role in its pathogenic process. Regulatory T cells (Treg), as a part of immune system, are involved in controlling autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Quantitative and/or functional alteration of Tregs has been shown to play an atheroprotective role and may al...

Enzymatic and Immunogenic Changes of Myocardial Infarction

Diagnosis of myocardial infarction is very important in a patient with chest pain. Chest pain is not always present or it may be from other causes rather than myocardial infarction. Q wave is present in 30] of infarction. ST,T wave changes are present in all myocardial infarctions, but these changes also are present in myocardial ischernia.  For these reasons diagnosis of myocardial infarction...

QT-Dispersion as a potential marker in prognosis of acute myocardial infarction

Introduction: QT dispersion in a 12 lead ECG represents the heterogeneity of ventricular repolarization. The prolongation of QT-interval dispersion increases the risk of coronary heart disease, ventricular arrhythmia, and sudden cardiac death in patients with myocardial infarction. We aimed to investigate the prognostic value of QT-dispersion in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Meth...

Risk of cardiovascular events and pulmonary hypertension following splenectomy — a Danish population-based cohort study from 1996–2012

Splenectomized patients are at increased risk of cardiovascular events, but it remains unclear whether this is due to lack of the spleen or due to the underlying disease leading to splenectomy. We aimed to assess the risk of myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, and stroke following splenectomy. We identified patients splenectomized in Denmark between 1996 and 2012. We constructed two ...
